αὐθ-έκαστος , ον,
A.one who calls things by their right names, down-right, blunt, Arist.EN1127a23, cf. Cleanth.Stoic.1.127; “οὔκ ἐστ᾽ ἀλώπηξ ἡ μὲν εἴρων . . ἡ δ᾽ αὐ.” Philem.89.7, cf. Posidipp.40; in later Prose, “λόγος” Phld.Piet.102 (Comp.), cf. Ph.2.51, Plu.Cat.Ma.6. Adv. “-τως” bluntly, Phld.Sign.32.
2. of style, inartificial, plain, D.H.Comp.22.
3. in bad sense, self-willed (αὐτάρεσκος, Hsch.; = ἀπαρέγκλητος, Suid.), αὐ. τὸν τρόπον, τῷ τρόπῳ, Men.843, Sam.205, cf. Luc.Phal.1.2, Plu.2.11e; οὐ γὰρ αὐθάδης οὐδὲ αὐ. ὁ σώφρων ἀνήρ ib. 823a, cf. Phld.Vit.p.30J.
