I.to draw aside, pervert, Pind.: —Mid. to draw aside to oneself, draw away from, τί τινος Od.
2.to lead alongside, as one does a led horse, Hdt.; παρέλκειν ἐκ γῆς to tow [boats] from the bank, id=Hdt.
3.κενὰς παρέλκειν (sc. τὰς κώπας) to pull them through the air without dipping them, i. e. to make a mere show of working, Ar.
II.to drag to one side, put off, μὴ μύνῃσι παρέλκετε put not things off by excuses, Od.
III.intr. to be prolonged, to continue, Luc.
