Εὐμενεῖ, οὐχ ἑκόντα ἑκόντι. ἐν ταύτῃ τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ τὸ πεδίον λέγεται ἰδεῖν Ἀλέξανδρον τὸ ἀνειμένον ταῖς ἵπποις ταῖς βασιλικαῖς, αὐτό τε πεδίον Νησαῖον καλούμενον καὶ αἱ ἵπποι ὅτι Νησαῖαι κληΐζονται λέγει Ἡρόδοτος: εἶναι δὲ πάλαι μὲν ἐς πεντεκαίδεκα 1 μυριάδας τῶν ἵππων, τότε δὲ Ἀλέξανδρον οὐ πολὺ πλείονας τῶν πέντε καταλαβεῖν: πρὸς λῃστῶν γὰρ διαρπαγῆναι τὰς πολλὰς αὐτῶν.
