A.grow quite weary, fail, flag utterly, mostly abs., S.OC 1776 (lyr.), Pl.R.445b, AP5.46 (Rufin.); “τῷ μήκει τοῦ χρόνου” Jul. Or.2.91d: c. part., ἀ. ζητῶν, μηχανώμενος, to be quite weary of seeking, etc., Pl.Men.81d, X.Mem.2.6.35.
2. c. inf., cease to do, “μοχθεῖν οὐκ ἀ.” E.Ion135 (lyr.); μὴ ἀποκάμης σαυτὸν σῶσαι do not hesitate . ., Pl.Cri.45b.
3. c. acc., ἀ. πόνον flinch from toil, X.HG 7.5.19; “ἀ. πρὸς τὰς διαμαρτίας” to be disheartened by . ., Plu.Arat.33.
