II. ἄσσα , Ion. for τινά, Att. ἄττα , something, some, Hom. only once, “ὁπποῖ᾽ ἄσσα” what sort, Od.19.218; “πόσ᾽ ἄττα;” Ar.Ra.173; δείν᾽ ἄ. ib.925; “οἷ᾽ ἄττα βαΰζει” Cratin. 6, etc.: with numerals, δύ᾽ ἄττα ὀνόματα, τρία ἄττα γένη, Pl.Sph.255c, Ly.216d: added to a temporal Conj., “πηνίκ᾽ ἄττα . . ;” Ar.Av.1514, etc. (ἄσσα (ἄττα) arises from false division of groups like ὁποῖά σσα where σσα = τι-α, neut. pl. of τις, cf. Megarian σά.)
