2. ἅτερος [α_], Att. contr. for ὁ ἅτερος, Com.Adesp.14.23 D., Pl.Lg.695b, etc.; also neut. θάτερον, gen. θα_τέρου, dat. θα_τέρῳ, θα_τέρᾳ, or with mark of crasis, θἀτέρου, etc.; but contr. forms when the Art. ends with a conson., are incorrect, as “θάτερον τὸν τόπον” Str.2.1.20, cf.Luc. DMort.26.1, Hist.Conscr.22: also nom. “θάτερος” Polem. Cyn.4; “ὁ θάτερος” Men.846; “τὰ θάτερα” Arist.Mu.397a2; ἅτερον for “τὸν ἕτερον” Luc. Pseudol.29. (sṃ-τερος; v. ἕτερος.)
