A.preconception, mental picture or scheme into which experience is fitted, “εἰς τὴν π. ἐναρμόττειν” Epicur.Sent.37, cf.38, Ep.1p.24U.(pl.), Ep.3p.60U.(pl.), Fr.255, Nat.28.4（p.7 V., pl.); also in Stoic. philos., “ἔμφυτοι π.” Chrysipp.Stoic.3.17, al.; κοινὴ π. τῶν ἀνθρώπων Id.ib.2.286, al., cf. Arr.Epict.1.22.
2. in common use, previous notion or conception, Plb.8.27.1; “π. ἔχειν πάντων ἀδύνατον” Id.10.43.8, cf. A.D.Conj.247.22, al., PFay.124.16（ii A.D., -λημψ-).
II. Rhet., anticipation, “ὑπονοίας” Hermog.Meth.10: generally, Ph.1.425; “ζῴων ἐνίοις σεισμῶν καὶ ὑετῶν ἐμπέφυκε π.” Iamb.Myst.3.26; “ἐν προλήψει γεγονέναι” Philum.Ven.4.5.
