ἀναΐσσω [α^να_], Att. contr. ἀνᾴσσω , used also by Pi.:—
A.start up,μὴ πρὶν ἀναΐξειαν Ἀρήϊοι υἷες ἈχαιῶνIl.4.114; ὅτε δὴ . . ἀναΐξειεν Ὀδυσσεύς whenever he rose to speak, 3.216; of a spring, gush forth, 22.148: so in later Poets, μυελὸς στέρνων ἐντὸς ἀνᾴσσων springing fresh within the breast, A.Ag.77 cj. Herm., cf. Pers.96 cj. Brunck; “ὀρθοὶ ἀνῇξαν πάντεςE.Hel.1600; βωμὸς ἀνᾴσσων an altar rising up, Pi.O.13.107.—Rare in Prose, “ἀναΐσσει νόσημαHp.Prog.19; ἀνᾴξας, of a hare, X.Cyn.6.17.
2. c. acc., ἀναΐξας . . ἅρμα καὶ ἵππους having leapt upon it, Il.24.440.
3. Act., cause to start up,ἀνήϊξεν δὲ φέβεσθαιOpp.C.1.107.
