2. simply, = ἔκγονος, descendant, Pl.R.364e, D.19.48,54, etc.; ἔκγ- is v.l. in ll.cc., and may be right in Arist.Pol.1335a13, cf. ib.b30; “τὰ ἔγγοναissue, Inscr.Cos 36a4, PFreib.10.8, etc.; of animals, Ph.2.396, al.; “Ἔρως πυρὸς ἔγγονεAPl.4.212 (Alph.).
3. productive, κακίας, μνήμης, Callistr.Stat. 10. [ἔγγ- may represent ἔκγ- (q.v.), both forms are found in Att. Inscrr. up to ca. 300 B.C.; ἔγγ- is rare in Hellenistic Greek, OGI49.12 (iii B. C.), PTeb.124.25,33 (ii B. C.); but more freq. later; ἐνγ- is written in SIG333.25 (Samos, iv B. C.), dub. in CIG3185 (Smyrna).]
