2. metaph., deal or fare in any way, ἠμποληκότα τὰ πλεῖστ᾽ ἀμείνονα having dealt in most things with success, A.Eu.631; κάλλιον ἐμπολήσει will fare better in health, Hp.Morb.4.49; ἆρ᾽ ἠμπόληκας ὥσπερ ἡ φάτις κρατεῖ; S.Aj. 978.
