II. of judges, lay a penalty on a person, τοῖς ἐξάρνοις ἐ. ταλάντου ἑκάστῳ v.l. in Aeschin.1.113 ; “ἐ. ἀργύριον” Hermes 17.4 (Delos) ; but ἐ. τὴν ἀρχαίην δίκην make the original trial the ground of punishment, Hdt.4.43.
