1. sit still, with collat. notion of inaction, τίφθ᾽ οὕτως κατ᾽ ἄρ᾽ ἕζεαι ἶσος ἀναύδῳ; Od.10.378, cf.6.295.
2. sit as suppliants, “ἱκέται καθεζόμεσθα βώμιοι” E.Heracl.l.c.; “πρὸς τὰ ἱερὰ ἱκετῶν καθεζομένων” Th.3.70, cf. Ar.Lys.1139, D.18.107.
