II.a projection, a jutting rock, foreland or tongue of land, Soph.; Νειλόρυτος πρ. i. e. the Delta of the Nile, Anth.
III.a thing held before one as a defence, a fence, screen, bulwark, Xen.: c. gen. a defence against, δείματος καὶ βελέων Soph.; θανάτου Eur.
IV.a legal process in which the plaintiff appealed to the Ecclesia to support his suit before bringing it into court, pl. προβολαί, Xen., Dem., etc.
