I.a Siren: in pl. Σειρῆνες, αἱ, the Sirens, mythical sisters on the south coast of Italy, who enticed seamen by their songs, and then slew them, Od. Hom. only knows of two, whence epic dual. gen. Σειρήνοιιν.
