Therma

Θέρμη). A town in Macedonia, afterwards called
Thessalonica (see
Thessalonica), situated at
the northeastern extremity of a great gulf of the Aegaean Sea, called Thermaĭcus or Thermaeus Sinus from the town at its
head. This gulf was also called Macedonicus Sinus; its modern name is the Gulf of Salonica.
