Κάστωρ (in gen. only, “Κάστορος”.) son of Leda and Tyndareus, but of Zeus P. 4.171, half brother to Polydeukes, killed by Idas; the Dioskouroi were worshipped in connection with horseracing, with their principal shrine at Therapnai. “ θεόμορ᾽ Ἀρκεσίλα, σύ τοί νινμετανίσεαι ἕκατι χρυσαρμάτου Κάστορος” (“ ὅτι ἱππικὸς θεὸς ὅτι ἐπιφανῶς ἄγουσιν οἱ Κυρηναῖοι τὰ Διοσκούρεια.
