fasten for oneself, cling to, take hold
of (τινός); ἁψαμένη βρόχον αἰπὺν ἀφ᾽ ὑψηλοῖο μελάθρου, in
order to hang herself, Od. 11.278
; ὡς δ᾽ ο<*>´τε τίς τε κυὼν συὸς
ἀγρίου ἠὲ λέοντος | ἅψηται κατόπισθε, ‘fastens on’ to
him from the rear, Il. 8.339
; ἅψασθαι γούνων, κεφαλῆς, νηῶν,
etc.; βρώμης δ᾽ οὐχ ἅπτεαι οὐδὲ
ποτῆτος, ‘touch,’ Od. 10.379.
