Diony'sius
41. Of SIDON, a Greek grammarian, who is sometimes simply called Sidonius. (Schol. Venet.
ad Hom. Il. 1.424, 14.40.)
He seems to have lived shortly after the time of Aristarchus, and to have founded a school of his own. (Schol.
ad Il. 1.8.)
He is frequently referred to in the Venetian Scholia, and also by Eustathius on Homer, as one of the critical commentators of the poet. (Comp. Varro,
de L. L. 10.10, ed. Muller; Villoison,
Proleg. ad Hom. Il. p. xxix.)
