Erichtho'nius

2. A son of Dardanus and Bateia. He was the husband of Astyoche or Callirrhoe, and father of Tros or Assaracus, and the wealthiest of all mortals, for 3000 mares grazed in his fields, which were so beautiful, that Boreas fell in love with them. He is mentioned also among the kings of Crete. (Hom. Il. 20.220, &c.; Apollod. 3.12.2; Dionys. A. R. 1.62; Ov. Fast. 4.33; Serv. ad Aen. 8.130 Strab. xiii. p.604.)
