Howe, Henry 1816-

Historian; born in New Haven, Conn., Oct. 11, 1816. He published his first book, Eminent Mechanics, in 1839; canvassed New York State in the following year with John W. Barker (q. v.) for material for their Historical collections of New York. The other publications of Messrs. Barber and Howe include Our whole country; Historical collections of Ohio; Historical collections of Virginia; Historical collections of New Jersey; The Great West; Adventures and achievements of Americans; Outline history of New Haven; and Times of the rebellion in the West.
