Nelson, Robert 1743-1818

Patriot; born in Yorktown, Va., in 1743; graduated at William and Mary College in 1769; was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and was captured by the British in June, 17 81. His patriotism led him to sacrifice all of his property in behalf of his country. In 1813 he accepted the chair of law in William and Mary College. He died in Malvern Hill, Va., Aug. 4, 1818.
