Noyes, Edward Follensbee 1832-1890

Military officer; born in Haverhill, Mass., Oct. 3, 1832; graduated at Dartmouth College in 1857; practised law in Cincinnati, O., until the Civil War broke out, when he entered the Union army, in which he served with distinction, becoming a brevet brigadier-general of volunteers in 1865; was elected governor of Ohio in 1871; and was United States minister to France in 1877-81. He died in Cincinnati, C., Sept. 4, 1890.
