Strachey, William

Colonist; sailed for Virginia with Sir Thomas Gates in 1609 on the Sea Venture, which was wrecked on the Bermuda Islands; arrived in Virginia in 1610 in a boat made from the wreck; and was secretary of the colony for three years. His publications include A true Repertory of the Wracke and redemption of Sir Thomas Gates upon and from the Islands of the Bermudas; Lawes Divine, Morall, and Martiall; and Historic of travaile into Virginia Britannia.
