Hence == voice: “methought the billows spoke and told me of it; the winds did sing it to me, and the thunder, that deep and dreadful o., pronounced the name of Prosper,” Tp. III, 3, 98 (apparently not the pipe of a musical organ, which would have been unable to pronounce a name).
