A.Pharos, an island in the bay of Alexandria, Od. 4.355, E.Hel.5, Th.1.104, etc.; famous for its lighthouse, Str.17.1.6, etc.: hence Φάριαι : σκοπιαὶ Φάριαι the watch-tower of Pharos, Alciphr.2.4.
