A.“-νεύσομαι” Pl.R.350e, “-νεύσω” Luc.Sat.1: aor. ἀνένευσα, etc.:—throw the head back in token of denial, make signs of refusal, opp. “κατανεύω, ἐπινεύω, ὡς ἔφατ᾽ εὐχομένη, ἀνένευε δὲ Παλλὰς Ἀθήνη” Il.6.311; “ἀνένευε καρήατι” 22.205; “ὀφρύσι” Od.9.468, cf. Hdt.5.51, Ar.Lys.126, Pl. R. l. c., etc.
2. c. acc. rei, deny, refuse, “ἕτερον μὲν ἔδωκε πατήρ, ἕτερον δ᾽ ἀνένευσε” Il.16.250: c. fut. inf., “σόον δ᾽ ἀνένευσε μάχης ἒξ ἀπονέεσθαι” 16.252:—Pass., “ἀνανενευμένη” rejected, Ph.1.146.
