A.rub in, esp. unguents or cosmetics, “ψιμύθιον τῷ προσώπῳLuc. Hist.Conscr.8; οἴνῳ λίθον . crumble a stone into wine, Orph.L. 344.
2. metaph., . κόνδυλόν τινι give him a drubbing, Plu.Alc.8, Luc.Prom.10:—Med., ἐντρίβεσθαί τινι πληγάς cause them to be given him, D.H.7.45; “. κακόν τινιLuc.DDeor.20.2.
