I. as Pass., only pres. and impf., to be born, cf. γίγνομαι (which is a constant v.l. in Hom.), γεινομένῳ at one's birth, Il.20.128, 24.210, Od.4.208, cf. Hes.Th.82, Alc.Supp.14: impf. “γεινόμεθ᾽” Il.22.477, Hes.Sc.88.
II. as Med., aor. 1 ἐγεινάμην (Aeol. 3sg. “γέννατ᾽” Alc.Supp.8.13), in causal sense, beget, “ἐγείναο παῖδ᾽ ἀΐδηλον” Il.5.880, cf.
