λυ^γ-ίζω , Dor. fut. inf.
2. throw, master, Ἔρωτα Theoc.l.c.:— Pass., to be thrown or mastered, Id.1.98; “οὐδ᾽ ἐλυγίχθη τὰν ψυχάνId.23.54.
II. Pass., bend or twist oneself like a withe, bend aside, so as to avoid a blow, “λυγίζεται καὶ συστρέφει τὸν αὐ χέναEup.339, cf. Pl. R.405c; “στρέφου λυγίζου τε μύθοιςS.Ichn.362 (lyr.); “ἐλυγίσθησαν κατὰ τροχῶνPhalar.Ep.147.3; also of dancers, Luc.Salt.77, etc.; “ὑπ᾽ ὀρχησμῶν λελυγισμένον ἴχνοςAP6.33 (Maec.): metaph., in pf. part. λελυγισμένος, effeminate, Anon. ap. Suid. s.v. ἁβρός; ἐπέων κόσμος λελ. AP11.20 (Antip. Thess.).
2. turn, play, as a joint in the socket, “ἄρθρον λυγίζεταιS.Tr.779.
