ἀπο-νέομαι , subj. α?πονέωνται, inf. α?πονέεσθαι, ipf. α?πονέοντο (the ᾶ is a
necessity of the rhythm, and the place of these forms is at the end of
the verse): return, go home; in Od. 15.308 the word applies to the real
Odysseus rather than to his assumed character.
