Maior
(
Μαΐωρ), a Greek sophist and rhetorician, who lived about the middle of the third century after Christ, before and in the reign of the emperor Philippus.
He was a native of Arabia, and wrote a work,
περὶ στάσεων in thirteen books, of which scarcely a trace has come down to us. (Suid.
s. v. Μαΐωρ; Eudoc. p. 300; Schol.
ad Hermog. p. 130.)
