Saturday,March 15th, 1862.

The resolution adopted in relation to the claims of Col. Wm. JeWilley, 31st Regiment, was amended so as to require the Auditing Board to make a report of the special circumstances of the case to the Confederate States Government. A message was received from the House of Delegates relative to the adoption by that body of a joint resolution in relation to discharges of militia mustered into the service of the Confederate States; the report of the Committee on Military Affairs in relation to a resolution of inquiry respecting the troops organized for the defence of the city of Richmond, was taken up and concurred in; the bill imposing taxes for the support of government was made the order of the day for Monday at 12 ½ o'clock; a bill was reported authorizing the Auditor to settle the claims of the Commonwealth against the sureties of J. A. M. Lusk, late sheriff of Rockbridge county; the bill increasing the salary of Joseph Jackson, clerk of accounts in the 1st Auditor's office, was defeated for want of a constitutional majority. Bills were passed incorporating the Bellevue Hospital, in the vicinity of Richmond; reorganizing the 17th and 23th Brigade Virginia Militia; for the relief of the Savings Banks and other corporations of this Commonwealth, and exempting them from the penalties imposed by existing laws for the issue of small notes; declaring a portion of New River a lawful fence; for the relief of Wm. T. Pritchett, Commonwealth's Attorney for Northampton. A portion of the day the Senate were in secret session.
