In the Senate Saturday, a House bill extending the provisions of the act to increase the pay of certain officers and employees of the Executive and Legislative Departments was passed; also, a House bill to admit free of duty all machinery for carrying on any of the mechanic arts. The Senate then resolved itself into secret session, to resume the consideration of the bill to facilitate Government transportation, and remained in secret session until the adjournment.

In the House on Saturday, little business of importance was transacted. One or two Senate bills were laid before the House and referred to appropriate committees.
