Insulting ladies.

--On Thursday afternoon, a negro fellow named John, driver of a hack belonging to Mrs. Schriever, was taken before Justice Baker, of Henrico, to answer the charge of using insulting language towards some ladies. It appears that there ladies had attended a funeral in John's hack, and desired, on their return, to be carried all the way home; but he peremptorily refused to take them more than half way, when he got down from his seat, opened the hack door, and ordered them to get out, remarking at the same time that he never saw a white woman who would not walk four miles to get a ride to a funeral. The Justice ordered John to be whipped to the extent which the law allows.
