Statistics for occurrence #1 of “Sinope” in book 2, chapter 34 of Herodotus, The Histories:

from there, it is a straight five days' journey for an unencumbered man to Sinope on the Euxine; and Sinope lies opposite the place where the Ister falls into the sea. Thus I suppose the course of the Nile in its passage through Libya to be like the course of the Ister.
