Conviction of a murderer. Boston, Dec. 8.
--James Hurley, who killed William Loughrey, while the latter was arresting him for a burglary, committed some months since, was to-day found guilty of murder in the second degree.
At the close of the ceremony, Chief Justice Bigelow ruled that if the jury find that the purpose of killing was first entertained by the prisoner during the struggle with Loughrey, they cannot find him guilty of murder in the first degree under the statute, even although they also find that Harley know Loughrey to be an officer and was looking to arrest him. Hurley is quite young but known as a desperate thief and burglar.

Rates of discount on Bank notes at New York. New York, Dec. 8th.
--The rates of discount uncurrent money are advancing, under the influence of the heavy depreciation of State stocks.
Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri paper is at 12 to 15 per cent, discount; Pennsylvania and Maryland 1 to 5 per cent., and Ohio and Kentucky 3 per cent.
