Thirty-fifth Georgia regiment. Camp Near Richmond, June 14th, 1862. To the Editors of the Dispatch: Below I furnish a list of the casualties in the 35th Regiment Georgia Volunteers, commanded by Colonel Edward L. Thomas, in the battle of May 31st, which regiment suffered more severely, according to members carried in the fight, than any other in the brigade or division. This fact can be accounted for only by a simple statement of the facts connected with the affair; after our forces composed of two or more brigades had been forced to retire through the skirt of woods fronting the batteries and rifle pits of the enemy, this regiment was rallied, and by its heroic Colonel led the second time into the woods, which they penetrated as far as the centre — met the enemy — fired into him, and forced him again to take shelter behind his fortifications. Thus leaving us in entire possession of the woods, which we held for some time, and were with the last to retire when compelled
