Examination continued. --Fountain Rowe, George Bloomer, and Beverly Bloomer, were carried before the Mayor, on yesterday, to be examined for being engaged in the murderous attempt made to take the life of John L. Currey, at "Solitude," on Cary street, Monday night. The main witness, Currey, being necessarily absent in consequence of the fracture of his skull and other serious personal afflictions sustained in the encounter referred to the case was postponed till the 30th inst., and the parties were committed to jail.
The Disturbance at "Solitude." --The Mayer yesterday discharged Fountain Rowe as a party implicated in the felonious assault made on John S. Curry, at "Solitude," on Cary st., on the 18th of March. Curry, who was present, testified as to the active agency of Geo. and Beverly Bloomer in producing the fracture of his skull, and they were remanded for indictment and trial. The following witnesses and participants were recognized to appear and testify in the case, viz: John L. Curry, Granville Montelle, Philip Snyder, Ro. Ratcliffe, Wm. H. Dixon, Adolph Werdmeyer, Sam. Chappell, Wm. Howard, Thomas F. Moseley, and Jas. Dundelfunker. Curry is recovering from his injuries.
The Case of Fountain Rowe, George and Beverly Bloomer, charged with committing a felonious assault on John L. Curry, at a disreputable place called Solitude, on Cary street, will be heard before the Mayor to-day, if Curry's condition will admit of his appearing as a witness against them.
Continued. --The Hustings Court yesterday continued till the next term the case of Geo. and Beverly Bloomer, who are charged with making an attack on and breaking the skull of John L. Curry, on the 18th of March, at a place called "Solitude, " on Cary street. The defendants were admitted to bail in $500 each for their appearance.
Delivered up. --George and Beverly Bloomer, who will be remembered as the chief actors in a certain muss at "Solitude," on Cary street, some weeks since, resulting in the fracture of John L. Curry's skull, and who were afterwards carried before the Hustings Court and admitted to bail for trial before Judge Lyons, were surrendered up to the Mayor on yesterday by their surety, and offering no other voucher were sent to jail. The Petersburg Express, of yesterday, says: "George and BevBeverly Bloomer were arrested at City Point and brought to this city on Sunday evening, in obedience to a telegraphic dispatch, from Mr. Terry, of Richmond. These two men were sometime since arrested in Richmond upon a charge of felony, and were bailed out to appear before the next term of the Hustings Court, by Mr. Terry, with whom they boarded, in the sum of $500 each. Not gone into. --Geo. and Beverly Bloomer, who stand charged with making an extensive hole in John Curry's skull, on Cary street, on the 18th of March last, were to have been examined before the Hustings Court yesterday; but the witnesses not appearing, rules were awarded against them, and the case was continued till next term.
Hustings Court. --The monthly term of this tribunal commenced yesterday, when the following business was transacted--Alderman Sanxay presiding: St. Geo. Peachy's account for holding inquests from 14th January, 1861, to 27th April, 1861, was certified and ordered to be paid.--Also, an account of the visitors to the several Tobacco Warehouses of this city. The certificate of the election of Wm. Taylor as Alderman, was returned to the Court and filed. Nolle prosequis were entered in the case of Beverly Bloomer and Geo. Bloomer, charged with felony, and in the case of Caroline Cart and Caroline Cates, presented for misdemeanor. The Sergeant was directed to summon fifteen petty jurymen to-day to try misdemeanor cases.
