Interesting from Mississippi. Jackson, Miss., April 6.
--Gen Chalmers, on Friday, drove in the enemy's pickets within five miles of Memphis, killing two and capturing one.
Fort Pemberton dates of the 5th are received — The enemy were embarking the previous night, and on that morning were in rapid retreat.
We shelled their camps and transports, and made a reconnaissance from our left flank, alarming them much.
We fired into a transport filled with troops disabling the boat.
A special to the Appeal, dated Senatobia, 6th, says the enemy were out in strong force yesterday, but have all gone back.
