Twenty-five dollars reward. --Left my place, Craigton, in Henrico county, about the first of January, two Negro men, Ben and Robin. Ben is a bright mulatto, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high; bushy head of hair, about 22 years of age, and speaks very quick when spoken to. Robin is a very black negro, very thick lips, about 6 feet high, about 53 years old, and speaks very gruffly. Robbery. --On Thursday night, the residence of Mr. R. J. Christian, corner of 28th and Franklin streets, was burglariously entered and robbed of a quantity of clothing, glass ware, and other articles. The thief, or thieves, got in through a basement window, and after securing the plunder , retreated through the front door, leaving is open.

Charged with robbery. --Lieutenant John T. Gibson was arrested yesterday afternoon and committed to the lower station-house on the charge of stealing one silver watch, valued at four hundred dollars, and three hundred and twenty dollars in Confederate money, from Gold M. Griffin. On the same afternoon, a negro fellow, named William, slave of Mrs. Hobbs, charged with burglariously entering the house of Edward, slave of R. J. Christian, and stealing therefrom six hundred dollars worth of wearing apparel and two hundred dollars in money, was also arrested and locked up.

Griffin, was committed for a hearing this morning. The continuance was granted at the request of the accused, who expects to prove that he is innocent of the charge. Thirty-nine lashes were ordered to be inflicted upon William, slave of Jones & Childrey, charged with feloniously breaking into the house of Edmond, slave of R. J. Christian, and stealing therefrom five pairs of pants, one vest, two shirts, and one pair of shoes, valued at six hundred dollars, and two hundred dollars in Confederate money, the property of said slave Edmond. Mary, slave of Dr. William S. Scott, charged with using impertinent language towards her master and mistress, was also ordered to be whipped. y, which I found full of smoke. I descended to the ground for the purpose of getting a longer ladder to reach to the third story, but could not find one long enough. I expressed my fears to a fireman that there were some persons in the building, when he responded, it was none of my business, and ordered me off. I think if I could have gotten a ladder sufficient- ly long to reach the third story I could have saved the bodies, if not the lives, of Mr. Stebbins and his family. R. J. Christian, having been sworn, testified — Last night, about 1 o'clock, I was on Main street, and hearing the cry of fire, proceeded in the direction from whence it proceeded; found the house next door to P. Johnston on fire in the rear; went up a small pair of steps, which led to the sleeping apartments of the occupants of the store; assisted in removing the children and some bedding from the room to across the street; when I returned, heard that there were persons sleeping up stairs; went to the
