he protection of the frontier of Texas. The motion was not agreed to. Mr. Jones moved to suspend the call of the States, so as to continue the call of the committees. Motion agreed to, and the rule suspended. The Chair announced the question to be upon the bill reported by Mr. Garnett from the Committee of Ways and Means, to admit all imposts duty free, except such as may be imported from the United States of America. To this bill one or two substitutes were submitted--one by Mr. Clopton, of Alabama, and one by Mr. Russell. These elicited some discussion, which was participated in by Messrs. Perkins of Louisiana, Davis of Mississippi, Dargan and Glopton of Alabama, and Garnett of Virginia. Both substitutes were rejected; and the bill coming up on its engrossment, was read a third time and passed by a vote of — ayes 67 noes 16. Mr. Kenner, from the Committee of Ways and Means, reported back Senate bill with reference to the time of rendering estimates of the several
$10 reward --Ten dollars reward will be paid by me for the delivery of a mulatto girl, named Jane or Jennie, aged fifteen years, belonging to Mr. Brown, of Lunen burg, and hired to me by Mr. E. A. J.
