Tuesday. In the Senate, the resolutions of the Legislature of Maryland, protesting against the usurpations of Lincoln, were read and ordered to be printed. A bill supplemental to that for the protection of commerce was passed; also, a bill to increase the engineer corps.--The motion to postpone the consideration of the bill to divide Kentucky into two judicial districts, led to the discussion of the loyalty of Judge Monsses to the United States. The Senate confirmed the following nominations sent in by Lincoln. Major Generals--McClellan, Fremont, Dix and Banks. The steamer Yankee is at the Navy-Yard, repairing damage occasioned by a shot in her engine room. [This shot was received from a Confederate battery] Byard Clark has been appointed a Brigadier General, and authorized to establish a Cavalry school. A military force has been placed at Silver Spring, in Maryland, for the protection of the property of P. P. Blair, Sir, [A renegade seems to be alarmed.]
rgan has issued a general order respecting the new levy of 25,000 volunteers from this State. One regiment is to be artillery, with six batteries of four guns each.--The minimum aggregate for regiments is to be 868, and the maximum 1,048. Arms continue to arrive at this port by nearly every steamer. The City of Baltimore, which came in yesterday, brought 206 cases, and the Borussia, which arrived at the same time, 75. A part of the latter consists of Enfield rifles, purchased by General Fremont. In the case of the prize ships Velasco and Sallie Magee, before the United States Circuit Court yesterday, motions were made that the cargoes, consisting of coffee and sugar, be bonded. After some discussion, the petitions were granted. War influences continue to retard foreign immigration. The arrivals this week were but 1,072, making a total of 49,471 from January 1st; a falling off of 11,000 compared with the corresponding season last year. Small-pox is said to be r
