The question of Ranking Yankee Major General. --The board of officers on the relative rank of Generals have decided adversely to the claim of Gen. Butler to outrank Gen. Fremont. It is understood that General Banks allows Gen Dix to rank him by his own cannot, although legitimately, General Banks ranks Dixon account of priority of by the President and confirmation by the Senate. The five Major Generals now rank as follows: Major Gen'l McClellan, appointed May 14, 1861, to take rankmately, General Banks ranks Dixon account of priority of by the President and confirmation by the Senate.
