Joseph Claytor and John Gale were arraigned upon the charge of buying fowls in the city, on the 28th inst, and exhibiting them for sale at the First Market, they having fowls at said market place at the same time. Claytor and Gale offered some trivial plea in extenuation Gale offered some trivial plea in extenuation of their violation of a city ordinance; but the Mayor deemed it of no sort of weight, and ordered the entire lot to be confiscated, with a notice to the individuals interested that a repetition of the offence would be met with a more serious punishment. The number and character of the fowls thus confiscated are as follows: One dozen dressed chickens; about twenty live do., and ten dressed turkeys. Not a very profitable investment, we should think, on the part of the accused.
