rict, preached the dedicatory sermon from the familiar text, "Render unto Cæsar the things that are Cæsar's," &c. In the close of his remarks the reverend gentleman made some allusion to the present condition of the country and the cause thereof. The dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev. J. A. Duncan, pastor of the Church. The call for funds in aid of the Church was liberally responded to. The pastor said that the list of Church members embraced 165 names, and that for a new and small congregation they had succeeded admirably thus far, and the prospect for an increase in the means of usefulness was most encouraging. The fine organ attached to the Church was presided over on the above occasion by Mr. Chase. Rev. Jno. C. Granberry preached at 4 o'clock to a crowded congregation at the same edifice. The services at night (7 ½ o'clock) were conducted by Mr. Edwards, of Lynchburg, a popular pulpit orator of the Methodist persuasion. Collections were taken up three times on yesterday
