Lincoln, so surely will we see them put in force. The Democratic Convention will be held at Chicago on the 4th of July. The advocates of peace and the apologists of war will both be represented. Connecticut has already chosen a delegation of peace men. New Hampshire, under the influence of Franklin Pierce, has done the same. The friends of Vallandigham will be largely represented in the Ohio delegation. At the recent New York Democratic State Convention the peace faction, led by John McKeon, got control of the proceedings, and the Tammany warriors succeeded. The prospect is that the peace men will have a majority in the National Convention. If they do, resolutions in favor of stopping the war will form a part of the platform. Almost the only person now spoken of in connection with the nomination is General McClellan. He is popular with the people, and it is thought that he is the only man who would share the soldiers' vote with Lincoln. I presume it will make little dif
