Mayor's Court Tuesday, April 21. --The case of John Murphy, charged with shooting Martin Callahan in the mouth with a bullet from a Colt's revolver, was called and continued to the 1st of May on account of the absence of Callahan, who had been sent to a hospital for medical treatment. The shooting as previously stated took place near the Old Market-House on Monday evening. James Russell was charged with getting drunk and breaking a window glass in the house of John Governess. Russell in reply to a question of the Mayor, said he was a cripple and an army cook; that he had just arrived in Richmond when the occurrence took place, and that if permitted he would get out of the city by the first train. The Mayor said he should be permitted to make the attempt. The case of Patrick Healey, for allowing a dead horse to remain in one of the public streets, and become a nuisance, was called and continued, Healy not responding when his name was called. Bill Washington, slave of Steward Lomax, of Prince George county, was examined for stealing a gold watch from Hartman Jones, colored fisherman from Charles City county, and sent before the Hustings Court for final trial. The examination of John Murphy, for shooting Martin Callahan, was further continued till the 7th of May. Frances Kelley was examined for being engaged in a riot on the 2d of April, and sent on to Judge Meredith's Court for misdemeanor. Robert S. Forde, charged with shooting and killing R. E. Dixon, on Bank street, in this city, Friday week last, waived a preliminary examination before the Mayor and had the case sent on to a Court of Hustings called for next Friday.

Hustings Court, Wednesday, May 12th. --Present Recorder Caskie and a full beach. The following parties were examined and sent on for trial before Judge Lyons for the offences set opposite to their names, viz: Patrick Kurby, for receiving a large lot of dry goods stolen from John C. Shafer on the 17th of March; John Cockrane, for stealing a horse, valued at $100, from Thomas Barham, on the 2d day of May; John Murphy, for cutting stabbing, and wounding Mathew Callahan, on the 20th day of April; James Hill, for assaulting Jacob Holder, on the 5th day of May, and by force taking from him one pistol, valued at $50, and $25 in C. S. notes; Henry Chadwell, for stealing a horse, valued at $100, on the 2d of May, from William S. Hustings Court, Monday, May 29 --Frances Brown was tried for rioting on the 2d of April, found guilty, and fined $50. Judge Lyons fixed the term of her imprisonment in jail at 4 months. Andrew J. Hawkins, was tried for rioting and acquitted. John Murphy was tried for maliciously shooting and wounding Matthew Callahan, with intent to wound and kill him. The jury found him guilty of unlawful shooting, with intent to maim, and ascertained his term of imprisonment at 4 years in the penitentiary.-- udge Crump, prisoner's counsel, moved to set aside the verdict. The motion will be determined this morning. The grand jury indicted Joseph Zimmerman and Richard Morris for grand larceny.
