Gordon, a young white man, charged with being drunk in the street Saturday evening and violently assaulting and knocking down an unknown man, was sent to the Provost Marshal. John Neal, Superintendent of the Georgia Soldiers' Home, was charged with threatening to take forcible possession of a room in the St. Charles Hotel occupied by Mary E. Mitchell. It appeared on the examination that one of the officers of the Soldiers' Home wanting the room for the use of the wounded soldiers notified Mrs. Mitchell to leave, but she refused to go.
