Among the few papers left by my father, is a report, taken down at the time by him, as secretary, of the meeting held Feb. 24, 1792, at Thomas Green's School House, in regard to support of schools, the purchasing a small library, and whether the meetings shall be held in turn in each of the wings: Francis Locke was moderator. The speakers were Jonathan and Francis Locke, A. Cutter, Joseph Shaw, Thomas Knox, S. Peirce, J. Estabrooks and William Locke, all of whom lived in the upper part of the town.
