Substitutes. --We find the following correspondence in the Greensboro' (Ala.) Beacon: Richmond, Sept. 29, 1863. Gov. J. H. Shorter: I suppose there is a mistake as to the action of the enrolling officer. All having substitutes may have been called upon to show their papers. Under orders of July 20, 1863, the duty would be upon the officer to show loss of service.--Gen. Pillow, having charge of this matter, will be telegraphed to on the subject. (Signed,) J. A.
